The origins of this website go back to the Takoma Park Mobilization and one of its subgroups — the Takoma Alliance for Local Living Economy (TALLE). One of TALLE's members had a conversation with Andy Shallal, the founder & owner of Busboys and Poets, in which he offered us weekly use of the big meeting space at the Takoma BB&P store along with free coffee and tea. Thus was born what came to be known as "Climate Action Coffee" (CAC) in October of 2019, meeting from 7 – 8:30 am. When the pandemic hit CAC pivoted to weekly meetings via Zoom at 8 – 9:30 am.

There are now three subgroups:

🐝 The Pollinators

Our focus is on action, and educating people about the value of our natural environment. In particular, native plants and pollinators are promoted as integral parts of a healthy landscape, both public and private.

We often have a table at local events such as:

  • Takoma Park Folk Festival
  • Earth Day celebrations
  • National Pollinator Week (around June 20)

We also sponsor a plant swap every spring and fall (see the Current Events page).

Meetings

Every other Thursday morning by Zoom from 9:00 to 10:30 AM
